Hello Lincolnshire Scouts, As we step into summer, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the fantastic events we’ve shared recently, and look ahead to an exciting season of Scouting adventures. Firstly, a huge congratulations to everyone involved in the Boston District Camp, which was a resounding success! This year’s medieval theme truly brought history to life, with impressive activities including jousting tournaments, chain mail making, and the creation of fantastic gates that greeted every participant. It was a brilliant showcase of creativity and teamwork, and it’s clear that everyone involved had a fantastic time. Equally impressive was Stamcamp, where we welcomed over 800 Scouts and leaders from across the county – and even groups from neighbouring Peterborough joined in the fun. The site was buzzing with energy, and it was wonderful to see so many young people enjoying the camp’s rich programme of activities and challenges. In addition to these camps, we also saw a full First Aid course delivered in Grantham, with another one scheduled for Boston soon. These sessions are a crucial part of ensuring our volunteers are well-prepared to handle emergencies and keep everyone safe during our many events and activities. Looking ahead, we’re gearing up for a busy summer. I’m particularly excited about: Weekend on the Water, an opportunity for adults to learn and hone their watersports skills. Chillout Camp, a relaxing weekend for Scouts and volunteers alike to recharge and reconnect. And of course, many more events and activities planned throughout the county. Finally please remember to complete the new Scout Safety training by 14 July if not done already . This essential training ensures we’re all equipped to provide a safe environment for our young people. The course is easy to access online and will only take a short time to complete. Than k you to all our volunteers for your dedication and hard work – you make Scouting in Lincolnshire the thriving, vibrant community it is. Here’s to a fantastic summer ahead! Adam Jacklin will be stepping down from his role as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford District on 4 November 2025. As Adam prepares to step down as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford this November, I would like to take the opportunity to offer my thanks for the energy, dedication, and leadership he has brought to the role. Adam has been a driving force behind many positive developments within the District, always bringing a thoughtful and steady approach to everything he does. Throughout his term, Adam has consistently put young people at the centre of our work. His collaborative style has helped build strong teams and foster a real sense of community among our volunteers. Whether supporting events, shaping strategy, or mentoring others, Adam has been generous with his time and tireless in his commitment to the values of Scouting. While Adam is stepping back from the DLV role, I know his involvement with the District and County will continue. I look forward to seeing the next chapter of his Scouting journey and extend our warmest thanks for the significant contribution he has made over the years. As a result, we are now recruiting for its next inspirational volunteer (or team of volunteers) to lead Sleaford District. Sue Newbatt, Group Lead Volunteer of William's group writes..... ‘William’s older sister Evelyn (7th Scout) sadly passed away in April 2022, when he was four. His parents established Evelyn’s Butterfly Effect to spread random acts of kindness in Evelyn’s memory, and William has been actively involved throughout. He has helped spread kindness in a variety of ways such as baking treats for and neighbours, leaving Easter eggs for people to find, litter picking, and placing flowers on cars for people to find. He has also fundraised for various mental health charities, and was sponsored to climb Mt. Snowden in summer 2024 – raising over £600 for Walking4Hope. William has earned numerous badges for his activities and was awarded the district Peter Adam Shield for his contributions to the community. Despite his loss, he has shown remarkable resilience and continues to perform acts of kindness to honour his sister, always with a smile despite his heartache’

Two Scouts from 1st Thurlby, Charlotte-May & Tilda-Rose Houghton, attended the National Scout Archery Competition earlier this month. The event is hosted by the Hampshire Scout Archery Club and held at Phasels Wood Activity Centre in Hertfordshire. The event is attended by over 300 Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders and allows budding archers to compete over Target, Field and Clout competitions. Both Charlotte-May and Tilda-Rose shot very close to their personal best scores in the Target competition. Tilda-Rose achieved a fourth place in the Scouts Barebow and Charlotte-May came away as Scout Recurve National Champion! Charlotte-May and Tilda-Rose thoroughly enjoyed the event and would love to see more competitors from the Stamford & Bourne District or Lincolnshire Scouting attend next year.

One of the things that the system will tell you is what training you need to complete. As a recommendation from the Prevention of Future Deaths Notice that the Scouts received after the Great Orme incident all team members and trustees (leaders, section assistants and Executive members in old money) must complete the new safety training. This must be completed by the 15th July so if you haven’t done it yet please log on and give it a go. Again if you are struggling please ask, we have supported people with visual impairment, some that can’t read and people who can’t use a computer so do not be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
