Wanted: new Volunteer County Treasurer

We are looking for a volunteer Treasurer for our Lincolnshire County Trustee Board to start in late September.

As a Trustee, you would make a huge contribution at county level to the UK’s biggest youth movement. Now more than ever, our young people need skills for life to prepare them for the future. But for that to happen we need great foundations in place to keep Scouts safe, to ensure we are financially robust, and to deliver fantastic support for our volunteers in Lincolnshire.

We are looking for someone who is familiar with accounting and finance.  Although the person who volunteers may be qualified as an accountant, this is not a pre-requisite for the role. We provide induction training and will support anyone in the role. The term of the appointment is 3 years.

Our existing Treasurer remains on the Board and will provide support.

The county has 5,000 young people and 2,000 adult volunteers who support Scouts in Lincolnshire. We are in a strong financial position. The Board meets 6 times a year on MS teams with a face-face AGM each September. There is also the opportunity to attend a county strategy day, once per year. The new Treasurer may wish to make a greater contribution, this is up to them, but not expected.

Our County Secretary looks after input of invoices to Xero, and a firm of accountants prepares our year-end accounts. The Treasurer manages payments (to ensure a segregation of duties), prepares the annual budget and produces management accounts for each meeting. The role provides strategic governance and input to the County.

If you are interested in the role, please get in touch with me at howard.nelson@lincolnshirescouts.org.uk

Closing date 30 April 2026
