Sue Newbatt, Group Lead Volunteer of William's group writes.....
‘William’s older sister Evelyn (7th Scout) sadly passed away in April 2022, when he was four. His parents established Evelyn’s Butterfly Effect to spread random acts of kindness in Evelyn’s memory, and William has been actively involved throughout.
He has helped spread kindness in a variety of ways such as baking treats for and neighbours, leaving Easter eggs for people to find, litter picking, and placing flowers on cars for people to find. He has also fundraised for various mental health charities, and was sponsored to climb Mt. Snowden in summer 2024 – raising over £600 for Walking4Hope.
William has earned numerous badges for his activities and was awarded the district Peter Adam Shield for his contributions to the community. Despite his loss, he has shown remarkable resilience and continues to perform acts of kindness to honour his sister, always with a smile despite his heartache’
