Volunteering! - Bucket Loads of Adventure

A group of young Scout leaders have teamed up to organise a combination of water and land-based activities to highlight the need for more adult volunteers.
The Gainsborough area team of three took a group of 20 teenage boy and girl Scouts to the Girton Sailing Club near Newark.
Activities on offer included dinghy sailing, kayaking, open canoeing, power boating, archery, Scout skills and hiking.
Part of the drive to encourage the Scout Association’s 2018 Vision, young Scout Leaders Adam Middleton, 27, from 6th Gainsborough Sea Scouts, William Baldock, 23, from 14th Gainsborough Scout Group and Daniel Price, 26, of 1st Willingham Scout Group worked together to run the camp.
It followed their decision earlier this year to step up to lead the planning of the year's water activities programme and new adventurous activities for young people in the Gainsborough district.
And it was an introduction to courses run by both the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and the British Canoe Union (BCU).
But more volunteers are needed across the county to run the Scout programme in Lincolnshire.
Fourteen-year-old Scout Jack Bradley said: "This is one of the best camps we have ever had.
"Whilst developing our own skills on the water to the next level, the trust our leaders have in us has allowed us to help develop the younger Scouts, both on and off the water."
Lincolnshire Scouts' county commissioner Robin Wright said: "It's fantastic to see young Scout leaders working together to organise and deliver opportunities for young people to experience adventurous activities.
"The Scout Association’s adult training scheme is nationally recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management."
