Jack Evans appointed as Lead Volunteer for Rutland District effective 1 September 2026

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Evans as District Lead Volunteer for Rutland Scouts, effective 1 September 2026.
Jack has been involved in Scouting since joining Beavers at the age of six and brings over 25 years of Scouting experience. Professionally, as Operations Manager at Uppingham School Sports Centre, he leads a diverse team and has significant experience in people management, operations, health and safety.
Within Scouting, Jack opened a new Explorer Unit in Rutland at just 18 and has continued to support the district through training and programme delivery. He is passionate about supporting volunteers and ensuring Rutland continues to offer high-quality Scouting for young people.
I would also like to extend our thanks to Katie Smit, who is stepping down after 10 years of dedicated service as District Lead Volunteer. Katie has made an outstanding contribution to Rutland Scouts, and I am grateful for her commitment, leadership and the positive impact she has had across the district.
Please join me in thanking Katie for her service and congratulating Jack on his appointment.
