It’s been another fantastic month for Scouting in Lincolnshire, and I’d like to begin by saying a huge thank you for everything you do to keep the adventure alive for our young people. Your time, energy and unwavering commitment are what make our movement thrive. A particular highlight this month was the wonderful Adult Awards and Explorer/ Network Top Awards Evening at Burghley House . It was an absolute pleasure to see so many of our volunteers and young people recognised for their achievements and dedication. Congratulations to all the award recipients – and thank you to those who helped make the evening so special. I’d also like to extend my thanks and congratulations to Ellie Broome and her fantastic team for delivering an engaging and inspiring Young Leader Training Weekend . It’s always encouraging to see the next generation of leaders stepping up with such enthusiasm and maturity. I wish you all the very best – whether you’re taking on a district expedition or a simple night under canvas. These experiences are so important for our young people, and it’s thanks to your effort that they happen. Training & Safety Reminders Please don’t forget that the deadline for completing the mandatory Safety module is 14th July 2025 . This is a vital piece of training to ensure we continue to deliver safe and high-quality Scouting across the county. We’ve had excellent uptake on our recent Module 10 (First Aid) courses , with sessions planned in Grantham and Boston. At the time of writing there are still a few spaces left on these dates, and more course dates will be released soon, so do keep an eye on updates on the website and county social media. Lincs Fest 2025 – Bookings Now Open! I am excited to confirm that Lincs Fest is back for 2025! This is our over-18s only camp, training and social event, running from Saturday 13th to Sunday 14th September 2025 at Sudbrooke Park Campsite, Lincoln. Activities kick off from 10am on Saturday, with the option to stay overnight or just attend for the day. It’s the perfect opportunity to unwind, connect with fellow volunteers, and take part in some fun and informal training sessions. Bookings are now open, and full event details will be shared with participants closer to the time. Activity courses and non-permitted activities. We are looking to build and share online lists of individuals who have been on courses and have national accreditation for activities which are not permitted and listed on the new system. If you own a qualification or have completed a course for one of these activities e.g Tomahawk throwing, air rifles, indoor caving at Sudbrooke please could you send an email with either a certificate or something similar with renewal dates to Carolyn.greig@lincolnshirescouts.org.uk Thank you. Call for volunteers If anyone would like to be involved in working with the new cave trailer which was used at the Lincolnshire countryside show, please get in touch with Neil Onyon, or Carolyn Greig for more information. It’s a really exciting opportunity and we had lots of young people and adults try it out at the showground in April.  Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Just a reminder that all D of E expeditions need to have an expedition number which is issued by the County D of E advisors. In order to issue a number the advisors need to see the route cards, risk assessment and contingency plans for foul weather for each group as well as supervisor and assessor provision. A form is available to submit this information via the Lincolnshire website. Please contact them via DofE@lincolnshirescouts.org.uk if you have any additional questions. Programme team Thank you! Emergency procedures ahead of the summer. As we approach the summer, it’s important to remind ourselves and members of our teams of what our key safety procedures are, and what to do in an emergency: Purple Card: Explains what to do in emergencies and how to stay safe during Scouts events. Please make sure you have a copy at all activities. Emergency procedures: Understand how to call for help, notify Lead Volunteers, and inform UK Headquarters in emergencies. InTouch system: Communication at events and activities is important. We should be assured we can reach people quickly if we need to. Please review your InTouch system, making sure you have up-to-date contact details and establish clear communication channels. Making plans for the future of Scouts - 2025 and beyond. The Skills for Life strategy concludes at the end of 2025. HQ are now planning our future and developing the next strategy for the movement. Since 2024 they've been consulting with different groups of people to understand the views and ideas for the future as Scouts. You can track consultation progress and understand more about how we’re developing the next strategy on our ‘ 2025 and beyond ’ webpage. This includes a report and video from Summit25, the National Scout Conference, that took place at the end of January this year.

Adam Jacklin will be stepping down from his role as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford District on 4 November 2025. As Adam prepares to step down as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford this November, I would like to take the opportunity to offer my thanks for the energy, dedication, and leadership he has brought to the role. Adam has been a driving force behind many positive developments within the District, always bringing a thoughtful and steady approach to everything he does. Throughout his term, Adam has consistently put young people at the centre of our work. His collaborative style has helped build strong teams and foster a real sense of community among our volunteers. Whether supporting events, shaping strategy, or mentoring others, Adam has been generous with his time and tireless in his commitment to the values of Scouting. While Adam is stepping back from the DLV role, I know his involvement with the District and County will continue. I look forward to seeing the next chapter of his Scouting journey and extend our warmest thanks for the significant contribution he has made over the years. We are looking a new District Lead Volunteer roles for Sleaford District. As a result we are now recruiting for its next inspirational volunteer (or team of volunteers) to lead Sleaford District.
