Margaret and Alan Clapham from Gainsborough have both received prestigious Silver Wolf awards from the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls for their outstanding commitment to Scouting totalling over 75 years between them. These awards are the highest available in Scouting for adult volunteers and are the Scout equivalent of the MBE's.
Through their commitment and imagination, they have been instrumental in delivering magical Scouting moments from themed camps to adult training for countless members. They have inspired young people and adults to start/continue on their Scouting journey to reach their potential.
Alongside all the hours spent directly supporting the delivery of Scouting there is the unseen time spent ensuring all activities and events are carried out safely. More recently they have taken supporting roles with both 1st Gainsborough (Morton) and 14th Gainsborough Scout Groups. Being the dependable pair of extra hands when required whilst also continuing to support the development of adults new to Scouting.
The timing of their awards was also extra special as their grandson Harry, also achieved his Chief Scout's Bronze award around the same time.
Saying Thank You to Volunteers
At the Scouts we want to thank all our volunteers for their contribution to Scouting - it's an important way to make sure people stay with us and to recognise their achievements.
Awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the achievements of members and recognise volunteers in your team. You can use an award to recognise:
