Congratulations to our Good Service Award Recipients

The Scout Association in the United Kingdom offers a series of Good Service Awards to recognize adult volunteers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service. These awards are progressive, each with specific criteria:

  1. Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service: Awarded for a minimum of five years of noteworthy service.
  2. Award for Merit: Granted for outstanding service over at least 12 years (exceptionally after 10 years), reflecting keen, conscientious, imaginative, and dedicated contributions.
  3. Bar to the Award for Merit: Presented after an additional five years of outstanding service following the initial Award for Merit.
  4. Silver Acorn: Bestowed for specially distinguished service, typically after 20 years of exceptional commitment.
  5. Bar to the Silver Acorn: Given after at least five more years of similarly distinguished service beyond receiving the Silver Acorn.
  6. Silver Wolf: The highest award, it is the unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout, awarded for service of the most exceptional nature, usually after a recipient has been awarded the Silver Acorn.

I am delighted to congratulate the following recipients of good service awards from Lincolnshire who received their awards between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.

Adam Jacklin will be stepping down from his role as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford District on 4 November 2025. As Adam prepares to step down as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford this November, I would like to take the opportunity to offer my thanks for the energy, dedication, and leadership he has brought to the role. Adam has been a driving force behind many positive developments within the District, always bringing a thoughtful and steady approach to everything he does. Throughout his term, Adam has consistently put young people at the centre of our work. His collaborative style has helped build strong teams and foster a real sense of community among our volunteers. Whether supporting events, shaping strategy, or mentoring others, Adam has been generous with his time and tireless in his commitment to the values of Scouting. While Adam is stepping back from the DLV role, I know his involvement with the District and County will continue.
