A young Lincolnshire Scout leader honoured for his dedication to the movement has praised his own teenage troop for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.
William Baldock spoke out at the end of 2013 after his Gainsborough Explorer Scouts won a total of eight Queen's Scout Awards and nine Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards.
"This has been an incredible year, both individually and as part of the drive to encourage the Scout Association’s 2018 Vision giving reason to celebrate," said 23-year-old Mr Baldock, who is also the Gainsborough District Explorer Scout Commissioner.
He was presented with a Commissioner’s Commendation Award for services to Scouting in Gainsborough and Lincolnshire
It recognised involvement in developing Explorer Scouting in Gainsborough and supporting the Lincolnshire County Youth Forum.
"Young people are now shaping the programme and decisions, helping the district to fulfil the 2018 Vision.
"And as we continue to grow we are looking to expand our leadership team to allow more young people to benefit from the fun, adventure and challenges that Scouting provides."
