Skegness and Spilsby take part in JOTI - the largest Scouting event in the world with over 1 million Scouts

Skegness and Spilsby District added an additional element of fun to jamboree on the internet (Joti) by inviting the local internet based radio station to their event. County linx radio set up their outside broadcasting bus and allowed the young people to take over the radio station for a hour broadcasting live to their listeners around the world. During the event the O2 gurus were on hand chatting about internet safety and answering technical questions in the cafe. The cafe had been set up to raise funds as a thank you to the New life community centre who had supported the day by providing the use of their facilities. The young people made had an amazing time contacting some 33 different countries around the world via the Joti chat rooms, including a brief chat with Craig Turpie, the chair of World Scouting.

The purpose of JOTA-JOTI is to enable and encourage Scouts around the world to communicate with one another by means of amateur radio and the internet, providing a fun and educational Scouting experience and promoting their sense of belonging to a worldwide Scout Movement. JOTA-JOTI related activities take place simultaneously all around the world each year during the third weekend in October. The programme for JOTA-JOTI consists both of activities developed at world level and initiatives developed at national and local level, supported by National JOTA-JOTI Coordinators and their respective teams.

Staff bookings will be released at a later date. If you're volunteering as part of the LINCSFEST staff team, your line manager or LINCSFEST contact will send you the staff booking link directly.
