From the County Lead Volunteer

October already feels like another busy month for Lincolnshire Scouts, following a fantastic few weeks of activities and events across the County.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in Lincs Fest, County AGM and eSplash. Both were great examples of what our volunteers do so well – creating opportunities for young people to have fun, develop skills and enjoy brilliant Scouting experiences. We now have Chiller to look forward to, which promises to be another great County event.
There have also been a few changes within our volunteer teams.
I would like to say a particular thank you to Sandra Donnor, who stood down as Deputy District Lead Volunteer – Adult Support for Lincoln at their District AGM held at Lincs Fest. Sandra's contribution to Scouts has been amazing. Thankfully, Sandra isn’t disappearing from Lincoln District! She will still be around, continuing with Nights Away permits and assessing, supporting awards, and remaining part of the team at Sudbrooke. My sincere thanks to Sandra for everything she has contributed through these roles and, importantly, for everything she will continue to bring to Scouting.
Carolyn Grieg has also stood down from her role as County Programme Team Leader. My thanks to Carolyn for the time, energy and commitment she has given to the role and to supporting our County programme. I am pleased to confirm that Neil Onyon has been appointed as Team Leader – Adventure. Neil will help us continue to develop the adventurous side of our programme and ensure that young people across Lincolnshire have access to exciting, high-quality opportunities.
Looking a little further ahead, 2027 will mark the 120th birthday of Scouting. That feels like a very good excuse for a party! I would love us to use the anniversary not just to celebrate our history, but to celebrate everything Scouting is doing in Lincolnshire today and look ahead to what we want to achieve over the next 120 years.
Finally, thank you to everyone who continues to make Scouting happen across Lincolnshire. Whether you are running a weekly section meeting, supporting an event, maintaining a campsite, serving as a Trustee, assessing permits, supporting volunteers or doing one of the many other jobs that often happen behind the scenes – it all makes a difference.
There is plenty happening as we head towards the end of 2026, and plenty more to look forward to in 2027.
