Applications Now Open: World Scout Moot 2022

Applications to join the UK Contingent for the 16th World Scout Moot have reopened for a limited time following the event dates changing (see below).

For anyone who didn't manage to submit an application first time round, can now attend due to the new dates in 2022 or have had a change in circumstance, UK Scouts are delighted to be able to provide an opportunity to submit an application as either a Participant or IST member.

The second round of applications will then be entered along with the first round into the ballot which will be drawn using our Scouting Criteria. Places will be confirmed no later than the end of October 2020.

Submitting an application is super easy! There's three simple steps to let us know you'd like to come to Ireland in July 2022. They are:

  1. Completing a contingent application form
  2. Filling out an anonymous equal opportunities monitoring form
  3. Visiting the grants section of our website and considering completing an application for our Inclusion Fund.

All the information on submitting an application and more is available on our How to apply page. Applications close at midnight on Sunday 20th September, so don't leave it too late!

A reminder that if you've already applied - you don't need to do anything! Please don't submit a second application, but check your emails for the latest update around your next steps.

New dates, same adventure

The organisers have now confirmed to us that the World Scout Moot will take place from Monday 18th to Friday 29th July 2022. We’ve broken this down below to show you all of the dates for our UK Contingent experience:

Participants:

  • Pre-event experience (optional) – Saturday 16th to Monday 18th July
  • The Moot - Monday 18th to Friday 29th July
  • Post-event experience (optional) - Friday 29th to Saturday 30th July

International Service Team:

  • IST Arrivals - Saturday 16th July
  • The Moot - Monday 18th to Saturday 30th July
  • IST Post-event brunch - Saturday 30th July

We realise that these dates may unfortunately fall within the school term which will be disappointing for some applicants. We recommend checking with your school/local authority to see if this affects you.

Age ranges

We know an important aspect of the postponement announcement for many was to confirm the age ranges for the event. Following consultation, the organisers have confirmed that participant age range has been extended to include those aged 18 – 26 years old on the first day of the Moot. The following age ranges will now be applicable for the event:

Participants: Aged 18 to 26 on 18th July 2022
(Born between 19th July 1995 and 18th July 2004)

International Service Team: Aged 27 or over on 18th July 2022
(Born on or before 18th July 1995)

Adam Jacklin will be stepping down from his role as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford District on 4 November 2025. As Adam prepares to step down as District Lead Volunteer for Sleaford this November, I would like to take the opportunity to offer my thanks for the energy, dedication, and leadership he has brought to the role. Adam has been a driving force behind many positive developments within the District, always bringing a thoughtful and steady approach to everything he does. Throughout his term, Adam has consistently put young people at the centre of our work. His collaborative style has helped build strong teams and foster a real sense of community among our volunteers. Whether supporting events, shaping strategy, or mentoring others, Adam has been generous with his time and tireless in his commitment to the values of Scouting. While Adam is stepping back from the DLV role, I know his involvement with the District and County will continue.
