ROLE DESCRIPTION 

This vacancy is for Deputy County Commissioner (Adult Support) of Lincolnshire Scouts. At the last annual census, we had over 5,000 youth members between the ages of 6 and 18 involved in our Beaver, Cub, Scout, Explorer and Young Leader sections. We have over 1,200 adult volunteers, who undertake roles including working directly with young people, adults who manage and support other adults, adults who are experts in programme and activity areas, adults who support elements of the programme through Scout Active Support Units, as well as the Scout Network which provides development activities for adults aged 18-25. 

The Deputy County Commissioner (Adult Support), working with members of the County Team and Executive, coordinates support for adult recruitment and retention in the County and will be assisted by the Assistant County Commissioner (Growth and Development) and County Training Managers. 

Purpose of the role 

As a member of the County Leadership Team the Deputy County Commissioner works in partnership with the County Team and the County Executive Committee to support the recruitment, appointment, mentoring and support of adults within the county. 

A key purpose of the role is to improve levels of adult recruitment and to support districts to improve the adult journey from recruitment to role review, leveraging forthcoming tools and materials being developed by The Scouts as part of the 2018 – 2023 “Skills for Life” strategy.
