Discovery & Adventure for County Beaver Scouts

On Saturday 6th April almost 300 Beaver Scouts and their leaders descended on Conkers Discovery Centre in Derbyshire for the first Lincolnshire Beaver’s County Sleepover. The Beavers spent the day exploring the National Forest on a variety of trails, walking through the tree tops and orienteering across the site. They explored the different play areas dotted around the site and rode the train to the adventure play area. They also built dens, went pond dipping, followed the sensory trail and barefoot trails and explored the warrens. Beaver Scouts also got the opportunity to find out about the different creatures that live in the British woodland as well as meeting Conkers resident owls, ducks, geese and pheasants.

At the end of the day the Beavers all got to explore the indoor play area before enjoying a cooked dinner and setting up their beds in the discovery centre. They then settled down to watch a film before going to sleep. In the morning Beavers and Leaders enjoyed breakfast before departing.

All Beavers really enjoyed themselves and were able to complete a range of badge requirements including Nights Away, Explore activity badge and Hikes Away (there was a lot of walking!) as well as ticking of parts of their My Adventure, My Skills, My Outdoor and Teamwork challenge badges.
