Feedback on the 2018 course:

The course was planned over 4 weekends and was a well-balanced course which ensured all elements of the syllabus were covered, including both the practical and theoretical skills needed for a Lowland  Leader. As a person that had completed a number of walks and activities over the last few years, I was conscious of the course content. However, the course was well structured and ensured that both the ‘paperwork’ and theory were covered as well as the practical skills of walking with a group of young people on the hill.

This was the first of the courses where the content had changed slightly, so we were all learning as the course progressed, but both Jan and Mike made sure we covered all the content in a practical way. The way that they broke the course structure up into sections for each weekend seemed to work really well, with the theory and paperwork completed first and then the following weekends with the practical elements. This worked well and ensure the theory was covered in a suitable timely manner. They also made sure that the documentation that had to be completed, (DER pack), was planned in and done during the course and not left and not completed.

Jan and Mike’s enthusiasm and experience made the course engaging and more importantly really great fun and personally I got a huge amount out of the training, not only from the practical skills leant but also from learning from the experience of the other members of the group, which Jan and Mike actively encouraged. I have made some good friends which I am sure I will keep in contact with and I can’t wait to start putting my training to use with the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers in my area.

Thanks Jan and Mike for a great course…
